The UK’s Competition and Markets Authority has now Extension Xbox Activation Deal Inquiry Period
The CMA has now delayed by eight weeks its plans to publish its final report on Microsoft’s proposed acquisition of Activision Blizzard. It is now 26 April 2023 instead of 1 March 2023. He said that his aim is to complete the inquiry as soon as possible and before that date.
Returning in September 2022, the CMA revealed that its investigation into the major merger had been extended to a second inquiry stage. He had numerous mistrust concerns regarding this big deal.
Just like the FTC, the CMA was concerned that the acquisition would affect a competitor’s ability to compete. Since the deal will include the Call of Duty franchise, which is a big game, the competition will lose a lot of advantages.
Martin Coleman, head of the inquiry group, explained the reason for the delay in the CMA’s final report. They say that there are certain reasons due to which the report cannot be prepared and published within the original reference period.
