Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War The fall 2022 anime season has finally arrived and brought many shocking developments and twists, along with some tantalizing mysteries. For now, BleachThe story of is entering its final arc and most of the character stories are reaching their climax, but there are still a few loose ends left.
One example is the identity of the mysterious warrior who helped Ichigo and his ally Kisuke Urahara take down Quilge Opie, Sternritter J, in Hueco Mundo. Quilge had many tricks up his sleeve, but a mysterious warrior finished him off with a sword swing before threatening Kisuke next. Long time Bleach fans have some solid guesses as to who it could be, and the implications are both intriguing and terrifying.
The mystery of Quilge Opie’s last opponent in Hueco Mundo
The protagonist Ichigo Kurosaki put up a good fight against Quilge with his bankai in the desert sands of Hueco Mundo, but Quilge regained the upper hand with clever use of his ability, The Jail. He also held off Kisuke, Chad, and Orihime with his remaining power and the use of Ransotengai, and it seemed like he couldn’t be stopped. At the last moment, someone or something sliced Quilge in half from behind, finishing him off for good. His corpse barely touched the sand when the mysterious attacker threatened Kisuke with the sword of his zanpakuto, and the scene ended there. Other than that sword, nothing of the attacker was shown, but by process of elimination, only a few Bleach the characters remain as candidates.
All the Soul Reapers are busy defending the Seireitei from Wandenreich’s brutal assault, so it can’t be one of them. But there are several surviving Arrancars, including the former 6th Espada, Grimmjow Jaegerjaques, and Tres Bestias, or the former Harribel fractions. Nelliel is still alive but in her child form, and Orihime hugs her tightly in those scenes. Given the power of the mysterious attacker and the use of the sealed zanpakuto on him, it is almost certain that he is Grimmjow.
Most of the Espadas died in either the “Hueco Mundo” arc or the “Fake Karakura Town” arc, but Grimmjow survived. In fact, Ichigo spared his life when Nnoitora Gilga attacked, and that was the last. Bleach fans saw Grimmjow at that moment. Now, the former 6th Espada may be back for more, and he has no love for Wandenreich and his Hollow-slaying Quincy. In order to defend his homeland, Grimmjow will gladly kill off Ichigo’s enemies, but that doesn’t mean they are now friends. Grimmjow is a chaotic third party, a wild card who could do anything in this all out war.
