Building 21 is a new close-quarters map added to Call of Duty Warzone 2 exclusively for the DMZ mode. There are a lot of things to explore in Building 21. However, it should be unlocked by using a key card first. Building 21 holds a lot of rewards, including weapon charms, skins, stickers, emblems, and more.

Key Highlights ????

  • Building 21 is one of the newest locations in Warzone 2 DMZ.
  • The Building is very similar to the Al Mazrah map with a few additional features.
  • There are a lot of rewards to look out for, especially weapon charms and chimera blueprints in the Building.
  • The main boss of the Building is called Velikan.
  • Building 21 can only be accessed through a key card that can be found as a random loot in one of the supply drops or supply boxes in the Al Mazrah map.

What Is Building 21 In Warzone 2

Building 21 is by far the deadliest map for the players in the DMZ mode of Call of Duty Warzone 2. The best part about the map is that there are a lot of rare rewards for the players to obtain. The DMZ mode has been quite popular among the players.

This is why the developers added Building 21 to make things more interesting. Building 21 was released shortly after the update of Modern Warfare 2 Season 1 Reloaded and was already one of the favorite maps of the players.

However, the Building was specially curated for players who were looking for close-quarter combat. Therefore unlike the huge maps you get to play on, you won’t be able to use snipers here. The Building has a very laboratory-like experience. In a single match, there will be 12 players, and they will be able to get their hands on exclusive rewards.

This map will test your survival ability with no place to escape and hide. The map is essentially like Al Mazrah however there are a lot of unique features that the players should definitely check out.

However, before you can do so you will need a DRC Building 21 Access Card. Fortunately, the key card is not that hard to obtain and can be looted on the Al Mazrah map. However even after obtaining the card you will have to wait a bit since Building 21 is on rotation right now and will not be always available to play.

How To Get The Access Card

The Key Card required to access Building 21 is not found in a specific location. Furthermore, you will not be able to buy it and the only way to get the key card is to loot it.

The DRC Building 21 access card can only be found in supply boxes. Therefore, you will have to search every rare loot cache supply box to find the key card. The supply boxes you need to search for in order to get the key card are found throughout Al Mazrah.

So it can take a lot of time for you to find the access card. These supply boxes are orange in color so whenever you come across an orange container make sure to search for it. Moreover, these access cards can also be found in the supply drops located in Al Mazrah.

But since it is a random drop, you will have to look through a lot of supply boxes and supply drops before you actually find the Building access card. The chances of getting the access card from the drops and supply boxes are pretty rare.

We recommend that you shift your play style a bit and start looking for the supply drops and boxes more. The rare orange cache supply boxes are the ones you should be looking out for as they have the highest chance to drop the Building 21 access card.

For now, the only way to get the key card is to check the loot containers and complete every HVT contract in Warzone 2. You will have to kill a lot of enemies on your way as well since these loot boxes have enemies surrounding them. However, with the rewards that Building 21 has to offer the hassle is definitely worth it.

Access Card Locations

We recommend checking out the high-tier loot areas to find as many rare supply boxes as possible. Most of these orange supply boxes are found in locations like Strongholds. Moreover, you will also be able to find them in hidden areas are locked areas which you can access by using different keys in DMZ.

In order to open the orange crates, you will need a stronghold key. Getting the stronghold key is a task in itself as it can only be obtained through enemies that will definitely give you a tough time as it is always in a random location on the map.

Keep in mind that these key cards that you have obtained from the stronghold will have unlimited uses. Therefore, you will be able to open several orange crates using a single key.

Besides the locked areas, you can also search in the denied areas, as they will also have some orange chests for you to loot. Hopefully, you will be able to find a key card in one of the supply drops; otherwise, you will get some good-quality gear and items to help you in the battles.

Unlocking Building 21

After successfully getting the DRC Building 21 access card, all you need to do is extract it. You can do so by going to al mazrah and extracting it to store it in your DMZ Key Storage in Warzone 2.

Doing so will allow you to play matches on the newly accessed map. You just need to queue into the match-making process, and you will be able to play on the map if it is available at the moment. There will be several deployment opportunities for Building 21. So in case, you missed one, don’t worry as you will be able to join again by keeping the track of the public countdown.

Before you play the Building 21 map, we recommend that you find the blue and red access key cards. These key cards are used to unlock restricted areas that have a lot of loot for you to obtain.

The red and blue key cards can be found in cache containers full of loot. These containers are common in Al Mazrah, so make sure to check out all of them. These key cards can be found alongside the Building 21 access card in rare supply boxes scattered throughout the map. You will need them to unlock restricted areas, so make sure to have them before you play the map.

Key Features Of Building 21

As we mentioned before that most of the features of Building 21 are essentially the same as the Al Mazrah map. However, there are a lot of new and important features introduced that make Building 21 a must-explore for every Warzone 2 player.

Besides the Building having 3 access cards, the DRC card, the red card, and the blue card there are a lot of rewards that come with the Building. Read on to find out all features of Building 21 along with the rewards it holds for the players.

Gameplay Mechanics

The first important feature is the gameplay and how it works for Building 21. When you first start out on the map, you will notice that your Protection Level will increase every time you kill an enemy or make a sound that can potentially give away your location. This is because killing enemies and making noise will alert others.

Therefore you can expect a lot of Shadow Company AI coming at you. The more your Protection Level increases, the more the Shadow Company AI will spawn. So we recommend that players always be stealthy when exploring the map and avoid making too much noise and using silencers on their weapons.

In case you get caught on one of the security cameras around, the Building Protection Level will also increase significantly. When you first start out in the Building 21 map, the players will be allocated to teams of 4. They will first spawn in a team of 3 however they will be able to request an additional team member through the proximity chat feature.

They can also use the ping menu to request another team member to complete their squad. Comparing this with the Al Mazrah map, where players will be able to form teams of 6, this indicates that Building 21 will not only have a compact map but also compact gameplay.

Building Layout And Levels

Building 21 looks very much like the normal Buildings you will get to explore on the Al Mazrah map. However, the players joining Building 21 will not be allowed to leave. They can only leave in case they are exfilling. Building 21 will have 3 Levels for the players to explore. These 3 Levels are filled with many loot and rewards for the players to discover.

But beware, as these Levels are filled with many enemies as well. Most of these enemies are around the loot and rewards, so whenever you come across loot boxes, make sure to keep an eye out for the enemies too.

There are a lot of secret doors and hidden areas to keep an eye out for as they hold a lot of rewards for the players. When you join a match on Building 21, you will randomly spawn on one of the three floors of the Building. Therefore in every session, you will spawn at a different place. There are three Exfil Elevators as well that are located on each of the floors.

Best Weapons For The Building And Enemies

If you want to play the Building 21 map, we recommend that you bring weapons that excel in close-quarter combat. Assault rifles are the best option here, and submachine guns are also viable for this map.

We recommend using weapons like the Fennec 45, a very powerful close-range weapon for maps like Building 21. You can also use the FSS hurricane for the map, as it will allow you to deal with damage in the narrow rooms of the Building.

You will want to clear your pathway as much as possible of all the enemies if you want to loot higher-tier rewards from the rooms. Furthermore, the Building will also have a basement full of rewards; however not only is it heavily guarded, but the enemies there are even more powerful.

The basement will be guarded by the Shadow Company, so make sure that you are prepared before entering it.

Enemies

Your enemies in Building 21 will be Shadow Company units that are pretty hard to deal with. They will be armed with vests and helmets so dealing damage to them will not be an easy task. Furthermore, these are 3 plate Armour Vests, and the Armour Helmets are not easy to break, so you will want to use the most powerful weapons in your arsenal to deal with the Shadow Company Units.

They are much more difficult to defeat than the AQ soldiers from the Al Mazrah map. Each of these units will equip random weapons. Some of them might be equipped with shotguns and assault rifles, while others can also have Pilla launchers at hand, which can be quite damaging to you and your team members in close-quarter combat.

Enemy Weapons

We recommend using armor-piercing rounds for your weapons if you want to take down your enemies in a more efficient way. Some of your enemies will also have Riot Shields equipped and have a 3-plate Armour Vest to deal with as well; therefore, it will require a lot of effort to take them down.

The Shadow Company units are very complex to deal with, and many players have reported that you will require heavy and powerful weapons and equipment, both lethal and tactical, in order to survive. But that is not all, as the Shadow Company units will revive as well. Just like the Al Mazrah map has, a chemist as its main boss Building 21 also has a main boss called Velikan.

While the Shadow Company units themselves are pretty hard to deal with, the boss is even harder. It will spawn randomly throughout the match with the warning prompt. Moreover, the boss will also have a lot of Wheelson drones around him.

When it comes to weapons, he will be using an RGL 80 grenade launcher. However, some Reddit users have reported that the boss will also spawn with a Chimera assault rifle. The thing about Velikan is he looks just like a Shadow Company unit. It is only when you face him head-on that you will realize that he is actually the main boss.

The best way to counter him is to have the most powerful weapons equipped along with equipment to boost your damage further.

Locked Doors And Secret Rooms

Next, we have the locked doors and secret rooms full of rewards in Building 21 in Warzone 2. You will come across them on every Level of the Building; however, they can only be accessed by using a certain key card. Different key cards, like green, blue, black, and red, will allow you to access specific rooms.

The red and blue key cards we mentioned before can only be acquired through loot supply boxes and drops in the Al Mazrah DMZ map. They will be inside the orange crates or the loadout drops, so keep an eye out for them and make sure to get them before you start a match in Building 21.

On the other hand, we have the green and black key cards that can only be acquired by defeating Shadow Company units. The green key card will be dropped by normal Shadow Company units, and the black key card can be acquired by defeating the boss in Warzone 2.

Rewards

The most important rewards in Building 21 will come in weapon cases. In order to get the weapon cases, you will need to access the basement of the Building. Next, you will need to look for a room called the server room.

But be aware that the basement is filled with enemies that are heavily guarded. After you reach the server room, your next step is to hack all the servers in that room. Doing so will alert all the players in the Building as well that the servers are being hacked.

It will take some time for the servers to be hacked. Meanwhile, you will have to take down hordes of enemy units that will keep spawning until the hacking is complete.

After defeating the enemy units and hacking the servers, you will need to go to the Armory room. The armory room will be located on the 3rd floor of the Building. However, before entering, make sure that you are prepared because it will be guarded by a drone.

You will need to defeat that Wheelson Drone in order to enter the Armory room. After defeating the drone and accessing the room, we need to find a safe. The safe can be cracked, and inside it, you will be able to obtain a weapon case. However, some users have reported that there was not always a weapon case in that safe so it depends entirely on your luck.

Weapon Case

Now you need to extract with it in order to receive the rewards that the weapon case holds. There are 6 rewards in total that you will obtain through the weapon case. They are:

  •  A Chimera Blueprint Called Silver Tox
  •  Heavy Chopper Skin Called Camo Cloud
  •  A Company Sniper Emblem
  •  A Weapon Rover Calling Card
  •  Roar Weapon Sticker
  •  Weapon Charm Called going Bark

When looting the rewards, you don’t have to worry as it won’t mark you and give away your location to other enemy players.
