Wakanda May Have Set Up New Asgard for a New Ragnarok
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has entered many moments of transition following the epic conclusion of The Infinity Saga. But one of his biggest changes came in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and the worst thing is that this change may not be for the better. This is largely due to the appearance of Namor and the nation of Talokan and how his actions made Wakanda enemies of the world when they did nothing wrong.
For now, the world remains tense over the events of wakandan forever, but reprisals may not be far behind. But because of Wakanda’s power, turning against the benevolent nation may raise bigger concerns that could affect other extreme-powered nations. This could even include New Asgard, which features a city of gods, and if so, it may lead to a smaller but equally devastating Ragnarok for its people.
Why is Wakanda in danger in the MCU?
In Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, T’Challa’s death called upon Wakandans to limit their dealings with other nations. However, this decision immediately called into question the nation’s confidence in the United Nations. But for other countries, their fears led them to attempt to take vibranium by force, further cementing mistrust between them. However, the moment Talokan appeared and Namor attacked American researchers put Wakanda in the crosshairs, as both nations have vibranium connections.
As the two kingdoms waged their war, the rest of the world, knowing nothing of Talokan, believed that Wakanda was to blame, and at the end of wakandan forever, had begun a call for the destabilization of the country. Now, there is a possibility that Wakanda may have to go to war with the world’s superpowers to protect its resources and culture. But this could only be the first of a more systematic approach to stripping potential threats from the world.
Could New Asgard face another Ragnarok?
Wakanda is a world power, even without being a nation of super-powered beings. That said, considering the fight they would put up against anyone seeking to hinder them, it is enough for any opposing force to consider the even greater threats from places that house superpowered people. The only place on Earth with a comparable threat would be New Asgard, which is full of Asgardian gods. While Thor may not be there, there are still enough warriors who could theoretically fight and thus be reason enough for the nations of the world to retaliate.
In the Marvel Comics event series Siege By Brian Michael Bendis and Olivier Coipel, Norman Osborn’s HAMMER organization led an attack on New Asgard to destroy the newly relocated kingdom. While the battle wouldn’t be quite as massive, something similar could happen to New Asgard in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, forcing those who sought asylum to fight for their new home. Even scarier for the people who live there in peace, facing Ragnarok and Gorr has already traumatized them enough, and another war threatening their home would be just as scary as Ragnarok. In the end, Wakanda may not have done anything wrong in wakandan foreverbut their fate could dictate the fate of many other powerful nations on Earth.
