The first Mortal Kombat 12 puzzle was recently released and is giving fans a sneak peek of what to expect in the future.
It was about time Mortal Kombat 12 was announced as the MK11 story has wrapped up. NetherRealm has been silent for so long that the time is probably right to release a teaser that will give fans a taste of what’s to come. Warner Bros. Discovery had also revealed early that MK12 was coming, so this was the right time.
The official Mortal Kombat 30 Twitter account celebrated the franchise’s 30th anniversaryhe anniversary with a new video featuring creator Ed Boon giving a short message to fans. He then revealed a very brief clip showing an hourglass with sand dripping out of one end. He then approaches a grain of sand which then explodes. This may be confusing for fans, but it seems to tie in with the end of the MK11 story.
At the end of the Mortal Kombat 11 storyline, Kronika the Keeper of Time was killed by Shang Tsung who was going to use his crown for himself, but Liu Kang from the future arrives to stop him. Depending on the player’s choice, the future would be remade by Liu Kang or Shang Tsung and create a New Era. The explosion of the grain of sand could have meant the creation of that new timeline.
End of spoilers
Since the trailer only had that hourglass and a molehill explosion, nothing is certain yet, but the end of MK11 will clearly connect to MK12. We’ll have to wait and see what Ed Boon has in store.
Mortal Kombat 12 is already in development.
