Street Fighter 6 is slating closer to its awaited release with every passing minute, attracting all the hype in the gaming industry lately. With the review embargo recently lifted, a bundle of reviews started flowing into the gaming ecosystem, revealing the thoughts of critics and all the glittery features wrapping the next-gen fighting title. The major review aggregator sites have also hailed SF6 as one of Capcom‘s best releases in a few years.

Metacritic, for instance, has stamped the game with a “must-play” emblem, which is a really rare status only held by about 4 percent of games on the site. Street Fighter 6 has reportedly already hit over 90 review scores on Metacritic across all platforms, already making it eligible for such an honor. To put things into perspective, it already boasts a staggering 93 Metascore for the PC platform, which is heaps higher than initially expected.

It is worth noting that the “Universal acclaim” review score is based on 17 critic reviews from prominent sites; we may see the overall Metascore rising or lowering by a number or two in the near future. Street Fighter 6 is rated with a Metascore of 92 for the PlayStation 5, while it has yet to hit the 90 critic score on the Xbox Series X, sitting at 89 at the time of writing.

Another aggregator site OpenCritic is also chock-full of high review scores for Street Fighter 6, confirming the hunch that we may have a potential Game of the Year contender in a few days. While the series is renowned for its multiplayer fighting mode, the single-player campaign has also received high praise in a multitude of reviews. Moreover, many other rough edges have been polished in the next-gen fighting entry.

Recently, the SF6 devs at Capcom launched an official benchmark tool that will let gamers test the PC specs and match them with the demands for smooth gameplay. Sadly, it will occupy a whopping 15 GB of space alone for the benchmark tool to work successfully. Despite the large space requirement, Street Fighter 6 itself solves the problem by dividing all the game modes into separatable download options, letting users flexibly play the game.

The high review scores make a lot of sense because Street Fighter 6 rights the many wrongs present in the last title and beyond, causing fans to relish the next-gen experience. Moreover, the new control scheme for the newbies has inspired a lot of gamers to pour into the populated community to indulge in the competition alongside the veterans of the series.

The new three distinct game modes also provide a lot of fun to be had, with combat that is both fluid and emotive with enthralling visuals in contrast to the last installment.

Street Fighter 6 is set to come out on June 2, 2023, for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC. Capcom has decided to skip the old-gen to ensure the title is able to fully utilize the next-gen capabilities of the current generation instead of making shortcuts to run on the last generation.
