Purple Stake Locations in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
The Grasswither Shrine stakes have an eerie purple glow, and after rolling all eight, you can battle Wo-Chien in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. These holdings are located in part of the Eastern Province and eastern sectors of the Southern Province of Paldea.
We recommend unlocking all of the Koraidon/Miraidon abilities before attempting this side quest. You can try looking for the stakes after defeating Open Sky Titan and False Dragon Titan for the swimming and climbing abilities, but traversing Paldea is much easier with all the mount upgrades.
If you want to learn about the myth surrounding the shrines and place them on your map of the overworld, complete the history lessons at the Academy. Taking these lessons is No however, a requirement to roll bets.
Below you will find the eight purple stake locations in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet:
Purple Stake 1 Location
The easiest way to find this stake is to fly to Mesagoza (East Gate); if you accidentally fly into the Pokemon Center, just leave town through the east gate.
Once there, head directly northeast and climb up the rocks until you find the stake. It’s roughly in the middle of this area north of the highway.
Purple Stake 2 Location
Like Stake 1, the easiest way to find this stake is to fly to Mesagoza (East Gate). From there, you will be able to see the stake if you look south towards Los Platos.
To reach it, climb up the stone gate that bridges the gap between the Southern Province (Area Three) and (Area Five). Now all you have to do is jump to the ledge below.
Purple Stake Location 3
This stake is located on top of the mountain in the Southern Province (Area Five).
If you just found Stake 2, you can easily reach it by climbing the mountain from your current location. If not, it can be found by going northwest from the Southern Province Pokemon Center (Area Five), northeast from Los Platos, or south from the Southern Province Pokemon Center (Area Three) and crossing the land bridge. .
Purple Stake Location 4
This stake is located on top of a hill northeast of the Los Platos Pokémon Center.
You can quickly find it by going up this hill and following its edge north until you find the stake.
Purple Stake Location 5
This stake is located on top of the mountain directly south of Los Platos in the Southern Province (Area One), on the land surrounding the pool from which the waterfall gushes.
Purple Stake Location 6
This is the most difficult Grasswither Stake to find because it lies on the northern border between the Southern Province (Area Three) and the Eastern Province (Area One).
One way to find it is to fly to the South Province Watchtower (Area Three) and then head north, crossing the gap into the green field. There you will want to head west along the edge of the cliff until you find the stake. If you don’t, turn around and head east. You probably missed it!
It can also be found flying to the Southern Province Pokemon Center (Area Three) and the Eastern Province Pokemon Center (Area Two), before heading to the northern end of the gorge. Again, you’ll want to split this cliff until you find the stake.
Purple Stake Location 7
You can find this stake on the brown hill directly south of the Artazon Pokemon Center (West).
Purple Stake 8 Location
This final stake can be found on the cliff directly above the Grasswither Shrine in the Southern Province (Area One).
Upon pulling the final stake, a roar will come from the shrine signaling Wo-Chien’s awakening. Before you find it though, we recommend stocking up on Ultra Balls and healing items like Max Potions.

How to Catch Wo-Chien in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
Wo-Chien is a Dark and Grass-type Pokémon at level 60.
This means that it is weak to Types Bug, Fairy, Fire, Fighting, Flying, Ice and Poison. Psychic-type moves will have no effect on Wo-Chien.
It’s a good idea to stock up on Ultra Balls and healing items, like Max Potions, before trying to catch Wo-Chien.
We recommend starting the battle with a Pokemon that has an advantage over Wo-Chien and is at a similar level. This will ensure that you can get your health down to that all-important bright red section without having to remove it entirely.
You’ll want to keep an eye out for Wo-Chien’s Giga Drain though, because this attack allows this Pokemon to heal itself.
For this reason, it’s a good idea to switch to Pokemon with moves that are less effective against Wo-Chien once you’ve reached the red section of the health bar. This will allow you to carefully lower the health bar if necessary after Wo-Chien heals himself.
Dark, Electric, Ghost, Grass, Ground, and Water types They are ideal for this task. Moves like Bite also work well, as they can make Wo-Chien flinch, and by doing so, avoid his attack.
Paralyzing or putting Wo-Chien to sleep will also help you catch this Pokemon. Just avoid poisoning him!
You may also want to switch to a Pokemon that takes little damage from Wo-Chien’s attacks, so you can focus on casting Ultra Balls.
We quickly caught Wo-Chien with an Ultra Ball, but you might find a more useful Timer Ball if your battle has gone on for a considerable amount of time. The effectiveness of this Poké Ball is tied to how many turns have passed in a battle, so a longer fight equates to a strong Timer Ball.
Wo-Chien has the Tables of Ruin ability, which lowers the attack stats of all Pokémon except itself.
Wo-Chien will have the following move set when caught:
|giga drain||Grass||Special||A nutrient drain attack. The user’s HP is restored by up to half the damage taken by the target.||75||100||10|
|Ruin||Dark||Special||The user summons a ruinous disaster. This reduces the target’s HP by half.||N/A||90||10|
|Dirty game||Dark||Physical||The user turns the target’s force against them. The higher the attack stat of the target, the more damage this move deals.||95||100||fifteen|
|power whip||Grass||Physical||The user violently spins its vines, tentacles, or the like to lash out at the target.||120||85||10|
Once you’ve caught Wo-Chein, why not try adding Ting-Lu, Chien-Pao, and Chi-Yu to your Pokédex?
To learn more about the Ruinous Pokémon and their history, we recommend completing the history lessons. If you’ve been following this mini-story, visit Raifort after catching all the ruinous Pokemon for an extra reward.
