PlayStation Studios Director Hermen Hulst welcomes a new member, Firewalk Studios.

According to Hulst in the last PlayStation Blog Post, PlayStation Studios has extended its relationship with Firewalk Studios and welcomed them back. The newest member has an extraordinarily talented team of creatives that has released some of the best titles to date and is now working on its first yet unknown original AAA multiplayer game for PlayStation.

Here’s a statement from Studio Head and Game Director of Firewalk Studios, Tony Hsu and Ryan Ellis:

Every once in a while, you get the chance to have an affair.

Over five years ago, we jumped at the opportunity to set up a new studio and build a new IP from the ground up. Remembering our own favorite gaming moments, we founded Firewalk Studios around the idea of delivering memorable moments, those incredible moments, when you just had to be there, shared with other people. Our goal is to bring those shared moments of joy to gamers around the world.

Building a new studio at scale has been an incredibly exciting and relentlessly daunting task. Fortunately, we have had the support of great partners throughout: Monsters probably helped propel us into the studio setup, and Sony has been supporting our project and creative vision from the very beginning.

We’ve brought together some of the most inspired talent in the industry to deliver stunning new worlds and experiences packed with great core gameplay. The excitement of creating something new for players has given the team and our partners a lot of energy, and we’ve been testing it every day.

Today we take the next natural step and join PlayStation Studios. We have worked closely with Hermen and the talented team at PlayStation for years, helping to make our new game even better. To join PlayStation Studios is to formally become part of a family that has produced many of the most storied games of our era, and we are honored.

We want to thank everyone who has supported us along the way and those who look forward to our future. It’s been an incredible ride so far, and we can’t wait to see the next chapter of this adventure.
