The Final Boss Battle

Adio approaches the Divine Breath, an ancient artifact that was once sealed away due to its sheer power capable of destroying the world. Adio’s ultimate motive is to bring upon a new world after eliminating the current one using the Divine Breath so that no one may suffer again.

Lim also comes running toward Adio, hoping that she may join him as he gives her a false sense of security, only to backstab her finally. He pulls out one of his revolvers and shoots her down. As she collapses, the Strawhats confront Adio and his true face, hoping to understand his intentions. However, upon showing his true colors to Luffy and the gang, our captain of the strawhats launches himself at Adio, alas in vain.

Adio uses the power of the Divine Breath to temporarily immobilize all of the strawhats, surpassing any resistance they might have to withstand the attacks. Lim draws her last breath in Nami’s arms with one last wish of requesting Luffy to help him at any cost. She turns into a cube, leading to the strawhats making haste to the beach in order to stop Adio’s plans once and for all.

First Phase

The first phase (Image Captured by us)

During the first phase of the battle, you will face off against both Adio and the Divine Breath, but in addition to them, the latter will also bring forth two thunder tornadoes in the path of your party members. It is consequential that you take these thunderstorms out as quickly as possible so that you may focus your attacks on the main boss of the fight.

Technique characters such as Robin, Brook, and Zoro will all be valuable to use in the fight since the Thunderstorms, including Adio, will support the power-type statistics, making them vulnerable to extra damage. Make sure to swap in Chopper whenever necessary so that he may heal any damaged crew members on the field.

Lastly, the Divine Breath will unleash a powerful AoE attack called the Thunder Shroud Freeze that can highly damage your party members. It will be indicated by the giant glowing circle on the ground near party members as well as with a mid-battle dialogue cue from nearby crew members too, as shown in the image above. It is imperative that you prepare for it since the Divine Breath will first charge it for one full turn before launching it.

Second Phase

The second phase will primarily have you face off against the Divine Breath in all its glory as it will power up more than ever before, having access to its own array of attacks. The fight will be relatively similar to the first phase, with the exception that you will need to weaken and destroy its barrier in order to deal damage to it. Once the barrier is taken down, it will fall to the ground, finally allowing you to damage it properly for two full turns.

The Divine Breath must be damaged like this for a total of three times, but you can end the fight pretty soon if you manage to shred through all of his HP within the stage where he’s down on the ground. But fret not, as after three cycles of the Divine Breath reviving himself, you should soon reach a point where he won’t regenerate his health after getting up from the ground, so you can be sure to finish the fight without any tediousness.

The Ending Cutscene

Luffy and his crew successfully defeat and manage to stop the assault of Adio to a standstill. But off in the distance, the Sunny is constantly being bombarded by enemy Marine attacks. Luffy urges the rest of the crew to rush and protect the ship, leaving him alone to face Adio in a one-on-one duel.

Both of the characters engage in a clash of ideals as Luffy transforms into his Gear 4 stage in order to charge at a powered-up Adio and his deadly Kote Kote No Mi Devil Fruit ability. During the fight cutscene, we also get a glimpse at Adio’s Waford-native friend, Pororoka, who backstabbed him by planning to poison him and sell him to the Marines. Instead, Pororoko was presumably executed for a crime, leaving Adio for himself to blame.

Upon defeating Adio, Luffy and the crew will immediately notice Lim alive and in human form again, but with a slight twist, as this Lim features red-colored eyes. It is revealed that she was the original Lim, and the one that the Strawhats had met at first was a copy.

Despite admitting his loss, Adio clings to his dreams and walks over to the Divine Breath in order to stop the Marines from bombing the Island. On his way toward the battleships in the distance, Adio hands Luffy a memento that holds the last remnants of him and his people.

Once everything is said and done, Luffy is able to revive the Counterfeit Lim the strawhats had met at the start of the game via the original one by handing her the cube. The self-proclaimed King of the pirates then hands her the memento Adio had given to him in their last words to each other as the game screen fades to black.

Several days pass after this turn of events, and the Strawhats, along with the two Lims, bid farewell to each other as the former continue their adventure of sailing along the New World in the Grand Line to discover the legendary treasure of the One Piece.

We are also later shown that the Marines, including Vice-admiral Smoker, end up issuing a false report about Waford to their superior officers without mentioning anything about the Divine Breath or about the events of the two girls on the Island. We are also shown a brief glimpse at an unknown cube on the back of Sunny’s cargo hold before mysteriously vanishing.

Post-Credits Scene

Once the credits have rolled, it is advised that you do not attempt to skip through everything, as the last moments of the ending in One Piece Odyssey are not over just yet. After the credits, we are shown a small cutscene depicting the blue-eyed Lim writing her adventure with the Strawhats in a diary.

The other Lim is shown calling her outside of the room, presumably telling her that someone aside from them is also here to visit. The cutscene ends with the blue-eyed Lim smiling at the figure.

What Happened To Adio?

As most of us know by now, after ending the game, Adio was last shown flying away on the Divine Breath to stop the Marine battleships from destroying Waford Island. According to theories and from what we could gather via the post-credits scene, Adio must’ve been the unknown figure that Lim smiled at that moment toward the end. But it is all speculation since the Strawhats themselves said that Adio would never abandon Lim or the Island.

The Potential For A Sequel

While on the subject of the ending, for now, though, it is unclear whether or not Bandai Namco will introduce a follow-up sequel to this side adventure. The Plot of One Piece Odyssey is definitely not canon to the main series whatsoever, but the game is easily one of the few best video game adaptations of the shonen series so far. It raises the question of various fans if we can expect another game in the Odyssey timeline or not.

Whatever the case may be, we will gladly let you know of any news on a sequel for the game since, for now, there is no official news or source of any kind confirming the next follow-up installment.

The Wrap-Up

According to a Subreddit post, it is confirmed that the game had only featured arcs leading up to the Dressrosa Saga, so fans who are caught with the series till that point can safely play the game without any spoilers. The game allows you to fully experience “what-if” scenarios in these arcs, from the Strawhats exploring the historical memories from the Marineford Arc to Monkey D. Luffy’s clash against Rob Lucci in the Enies Lobby arc.

The Characters in One Piece Odyssey are sure to entice any fan to pick up and play the game as each of the Strawhat crew member’s abilities are splendidly showcased in 3D animation. There are various outfits that you can equip for each character from their pre-time skip versions, all available in the Traveling Outfit Set DLC.

The game has serviceable exploration, but with a great sense of combat and storytelling, all discussed briefly in our Review of One Piece Odyssey, but for now, though, this wraps up our guide regarding the ending in the game. If you enjoyed reading the guide and have any questions regarding it, then be sure to let us know about it in the comments section below so we can help you out as soon as possible!
