Leveling up is a crucial part of any RPG or JRPG. Not only will you get access to better skills, but you will also be able to deal more damage to enemies. That is the same case with One Piece Odyssey, and knowing what the max level is will help you get a better idea of how close you are to making the most of your characters.
What Is The Max Level?
The max level that you can attain for any of your characters in One Piece Odyssey is Level 99. After that, it gets capped off, and any XP that you might gain from performing activities does not go toward leveling up your character.
Leveling up in One Piece Odyssey unlocks all sorts of new skills and makes you more powerful. Your stats also increase automatically as you level up. However, after the level cap, that won’t be the case. Furthermore, there is an achievement for reaching and going beyond Level 70. That means that you’ll mostly unlock most of your character’s potential by that level.
Leveling Tips And Tricks
In case you need help or general guidance on how to level up efficiently in One Piece Odyssey, then this section is for you. As mentioned, leveling up is mostly a passive process in the game, and you’ll reach a decently high level if you simply complete the game. However, if you truly want to maximize the amount of XP you’re getting in each session, you should consider the following things.
Complete Secondary Tasks During Combat
While taking part in main battles, besides just getting rid of the enemies in front of you, you might be assigned additional tasks. Completing them will give you bonus XP after the battle, which can, at times, even double the total amount of XP that you would’ve gotten normally.
The secondary objectives appear as alert messages and flash on your screen. These bonus tasks can be anything from things such as performing a specific AoE attack or finishing off an enemy with a specific character. These can also be in the form of Dramatic Scenes (or Dramatic Battles) as well, which pretty much have the same concept.
Each character in One Piece Odyssey has some sort of unique ability that can help them outside of combat. For example, certain characters have the ability to spot rare ingredients or money sources. Luffy has the Observation Haki ability, which allows him to spot rare enemies.
These rare enemies tend to drop additional XP after they’ve been defeated. Therefore, it is worth using Luffy’s ability to scout for these enemies and use them to level up much faster. The only thing that you have to be cautious about is engaging enemies according to your level. Don’t engage enemies simply because they have extra XP drop because sometimes they can be much higher than your current level.
You can also get additional XP bonuses by simply partying in camps or bars. Throughout your adventure, you’ll come across many bars or camps where the Straw Hats will take a break from all the battles and try to recover. During these moments, if you spend time cooking or crafting, you’ll get additional XP.
And if you visit the different taverns or bars that get unlocked in several areas, you’ll get access to a party feature (which also works in camps). If you let your crew undergo the party event, then you’ll get XP bonuses for the next 10 battles. Combine the boost that you get from the party feature with Luffy’s Haki, and you’ll end up with a great tactic for XP farming.
Like every other RPG, One Piece Odyssey has a good amount of side content that you can complete for additional XP and other rewards. You can come across these side activities by exploring and finding characters that can pass you down the different side tasks. Unfortunately, not all types of side quests can lead to a handsome amount of XP awards, but it’s better than no XP.
In the previous tip, we mentioned side quests. Bounty hunting is one of those side quests that can earn you a good number of rewards and XP. These bounties can be found in different areas of the Island. The enemies that you’ll face during them will be tough, but the XP will be worth it. Therefore, if you ever come across such bounties, make sure to complete them to level up faster.
Another type of side quest is the Memory Links mission which can be found through the World of Memories. In Memory Links, you’ll face familiar enemies but with certain requirements or limitations to make the encounters more challenging.
Enemy Spawn Areas
There are certain areas in the game where there tends to be a higher number of enemies spawning. These areas are great for XP farming, as a larger crowd of enemies means a higher number of XP drops.
Each chapter tends to have its own region or area with such a high number of enemy spawns. But here are a few areas where you can expect to find a large number of enemies for fighting:
- Chapter 2 – Deserts and caves
- Chapter 4 – City Seven Sewers
- Dressrosa – Mini region of New Royal Platea
With that, you should now have a pretty good idea of how to reach the max level in One Piece Odyssey. Near the end game, it can get quite grindy, but if you simply fight every enemy in your way and complete all possible side content, you won’t have any trouble reaching the max level.
One Piece Odyssey is a fairly linear game, which is why most leveling up in the game is done through the main quests. But you can also perform certain side activities to gain experience to reach the max level. If you’re just a beginner, then leveling up will be easy for you, but as you get further into the game and closer to the max level, things start getting trickier.
