According to Blizzard Entertainment’s President Mike Ybarra, fans of the Diablo franchise may not have to wait as long for the 5th installment as they did for Diablo 4. He reassured fans on Twitter that the release would be much faster. Previously, there were concerns among RPG series fans that they would have to wait another 10 years for the next installment.
Mike was replying to the tweet of the reviewer who praised the game but did admit the time it took Blizzard to release it was long. Mike thanked him for his positive review and promised that the fans wouldn’t have to wait for the next installation of the series for much longer, at least not another 10 years.
Thanks @DMC_Ryan – we’re glad you liked it. And going forward, you won’t have to wait so long between titles. We have a lot more coming to Diablo 4 and beyond!

The message is a much-needed reassurance for those who were fearing that another long interlude awaited them before Blizzard released the action- RPG series’ next game. And their fears are not without foundation as Diablo 4, despite being a huge success and to the liking of OG aficionados, was released a decade after the release of Diablo 3.
Although there isn’t much to go on other than his statement, it actually makes sense for Blizzard to roll out the franchise’s next title faster owing to the recent success of Diablo 4. But we don’t know the exact time frame yet and all we have is a tweet from Mike Ybarra. Mike also teased about more in-game for the title content saying they “have lot more coming to Diablo 4 and beyond.”
It took Blizzard Entertainment 10 years and over 9,000 people to fully develop and release Diablo 4. That long wait wasn’t something new for the fans as they had to linger for 12 excruciating years between the release of the 2nd and 3rd installation of the dungeon crawler series. Nevertheless, by current industry norms that was an agonizingly lengthy wait.
But that did not stop the fans from flocking to buy the title even before the release as strong pre-sales were reported by Blizzard more than a month before the game’s release. Though the action-RPG title was criticized for having low inventory space and server issues, it did not take for the game to take off as it earned $660m in sales within a week of its launch.
Diablo 4 was released on June 5 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
