Marvel Studio’s Blade Reboot Reportedly Sets Summer 2023 Shoot Start

Renowned scooper Lizzie Hill is reporting that principal photography on Marvel Studios’ upcoming Blade reboot will begin in July 2023.

Marvel Studios’ Sword reboot is targeting a summer 2023 filming window, according to a new report.

Renowned scooper Lizzie Hill recently tweeted that her inside sources claim the next movie is scheduled to begin principal photography in July 2023. That said, Marvel Studios has yet to officially confirm when it expects cameras to start rolling. Swordwhich means this report should be taken with a grain of salt for now.

Rumors of a possible start date for the Sword shoot should help ease many fans’ concerns about the reboot, stemming from its troubled production cycle. Sword has been plagued with delays since Marvel Studios announced the project in July 2019. The most recent delay came after director Bassam Tariq stepped down in September 2022, roughly a year earlier. Sword it was meant to debut in theaters. Can Marvel Studios get Blade back on track?

Star Mahershala Ali is apparently taking a hands-on role when it comes to the Sword the reboot script, too. A recent report claims that the Oscar-winning actor is now directly involved in the rewrite process, after he reportedly expressed frustration at the quality of previous scripts. This included one of the most recent drafts, which supposedly took place during the 1920s and pitted Ali’s vampire hunter against enemies hailing from Europe. Sources say the draft was 90 pages long and only included two action sequences, both of which were apparently disappointing.

Between the hiring of Demange and Starburry and Ali’s continued enthusiasm for the project, Marvel Studios is no doubt hoping that Sword now it is back on track. The lengthy development of the reboot has already had major knock-on effects for the broader Marvel Cinematic Universe, specifically, the MCU’s Phase Five and Phase Six schedule. Sword is now the final installment of Phase Five, surpassing Deadpool 3 to Phase Six. This in turn led Marvel Studios to reshuffle the rest of its sixth film slate, moving Fantastic fourpremiere until February 14, 2025 (from November 8, 2024) and Avengers: Secret Wars‘ Premiere to May 1, 2026 (since November 7, 2025). The only other confirmed Phase Six entry, Avengers: Kang DynastyHowever, it retains its release date of May 2, 2025.

Marvel Studios’ Sword The reboot is scheduled to hit theaters on September 6, 2024.
