Joe Jonas confirms that he auditioned for the lead role in the 2012 blockbuster The Amazing Spider-Man, ultimately losing out to Andrew Garfield.

Joe Jonas recently revealed that he almost played Peter Parker in 2012 The amazing Spider Man.

The singer-songwriter and actor opened up about auditioning for the iconic role on a recent episode of VarietyThe “Just for Variety” podcast. “I remember years ago I was ready for Spider-Man and I was so, so excited and that was the year Andrew Garfield got it,” he said. “Obviously, he was the one. But I remember that was a big thing at the time, going back for callbacks and the director used to be a music video director. But you know what? I love the process of auditioning and putting yourself out there and having to prove yourself.”

As Jonas points out, English-American actor Andrew Garfield finally landed the role of Spider-Man. Garfield recalled being cast as the wall-crawling superhero in a recent interview, saying he was “a lot to take on” at just 26 years old. He added that he “perceived the danger” for himself when he signed for The amazing Spider Man, due to the level of fame that comes with such a high-profile part. Despite this, Garfield stated that he felt ready for the burden of playing Spider-Man and that he already had plans to return to acting on stage once he finished his tenure as the wall-crawler.
