Is there fishing in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet?

The Paldea region in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is home to many different Pokémon. With so much water on the map, you’ll probably be eager to get your hands on the Old, Good, and Super Rod to start fishing. This may leave you wondering if you can get your hands on a fishing rod or if there is fishing in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

Can you get the Old Rod in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet?

Not you i can’t get it Old Rod, Good Rod, or Super Rod in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet because there are no fishing mechanic. While these items and mechanics have been staples in the Pokémon series, they are not present in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. This is similar to Pokemon Legends: Arceus.

How to Catch Water Pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

While you can’t fish on Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, you can still catch Water-type Pokemon. Many can be found on land, but you’ll have to wade into the ocean to catch most. Instead of fishing, you will gain the ability to swim/surfwhich allows you to find Pokémon in the water just like you would on land.

When it comes to catching Water-type Pokémon, we recommend using the net ball, as it has a higher catch rate for Water and Bug-type Pokémon. Using Electric and Grass-type Pokémon will give you an advantage over Water-type Pokémon, as well as inflict status conditions on them.
