There are a handful of new landmarks on familiar maps introduced in Remnant 2’s Awakened King DLC. One of them is a mysterious, unremarkable mansion in the sunken search submap. Little did we know that it hides a twisted secret that only trial and error can uncover.
In this guide, I will tell you how you can escape from Ethereal Manor once you have activated the trap in the second floor study. I will also tell you what you have earned as a reward for freeing yourself from the nightmare.
The mansion in question is an unmarked location later in the Sunken Haunt sublocation of the Awakened King DLC. As seen in the image above, the location stands out and almost gives the impression that there could be something inside.
Unfortunately, there is “someone” inside in the second floor study. He and Dran seem to be dissociated and trapped in their own personal hell. Interacting with it will transport the player to a new location called ethereal mansion.
Ethereal Manor is a dream world similar to the worlds we go to every time we use the orbs we get from using the Dreamcatcher melee weapon. Except in this case, a Dran forced us to come to this world. And there seems to be no way out.
A book in the hallway tells us that we must find a way out, but it gives us little else in terms of information. We get our clue to find an exit by choosing the quest item in one of the rooms, called ‘Strange Talisman’. (As seen in the image above, it can be found in odd places.)
On its own, the Strange Talisman is unable to do anything. When he picks it up, he will send you back to the entrance where we need to start the search again. The game doesn’t exactly say that a change has occurred or that you have made progress. You will have to read the event by ear.
To get out of the wayward dreamscape, we need to find the talisman several times until the object is completely transformed into another object.
The second time you pick up the strange talisman, it will now be called: ‘Bloody talisman’. It’s a slightly different looking quest item each time you pick it up. It is literally slowly being consumed in a layer of blood. But at least you have a visual indicator that progress has been made. You will have to repeat the process. three more times to complete the transformation.
So here’s the trick. There is 5 rooms where the talisman can possibly appear every time you repeat the cycle. Two on the lower floor and three on the upper floor. One of the rooms has the talisman somewhere inside, the other rooms will have ethereal versions of the Dran that trapped you here.
You arrive at open a door per loop. If you choose incorrectly, you have no choice but to let Dran grab you and restart everything from the beginning. What I mean by this is that if you’ve found the Bloody Talisman twice and make a mistake on the third try, you’ll have to do the whole thing again with the base Bloody Talisman.
How can you tell which room the talisman is in? If you look at the viewing port at the top of the doors, you may be able to see the glow of the quest item inside. Otherwise, you will see the Dran sitting in one of the chairs.
Please note that there are times when the glow is not clearly visible. When that happens, make a note of the rooms where you know where the Dran is and let the removal process do its part. You’ll just have to hope and pray that the only room the Dran isn’t in is the right one. Although it may be in a dark corner.
If done correctly, the Bloody Talisman will have transformed into the Idol drenched in death for when you have picked it up for the fourth and last time. Additionally, picking up the new amulet will also allow you to return to the Material Plane to the unmarked mansion entrance. Thus ending the strange event.
Remnant 2 Death Soaked Idol
The Death-Soaked Idol has one of the best synergies with the new Ritualist Archetype, particularly when combined with its second active ability, Miasma.
The Amulet effect says:
“Increases all damage by 5% for each entity within 20m that suffers a unique negative status effect. Maximum 5 accumulations”.
When you cast Miasma, you hit nearby enemies with a deadly quartet of status effects: Burn, Shock, Bleed, and Corrode. If there are other enemies nearby, the effects stack even more. It’s easy to say that this is a one-two punch that devours any unfortunate enemies within the AOE.
And this is how you can escape Ethereal Manor and everything you need to know about Death-Soaked Idol. I hope you found this short guide helpful in some way.
