Pokémon Scarlet & Violet’s Psychic Gym Leader, Tulip, can be found in Buffalo. It is highly recommended to have beaten Ryme, the Ghost Gym Leader by this point in the game, as her Pokemon are lower level than Tulip’s. Psychic-type moves are strong against Fighting- and Poison-type Pokémon, so it would be best to leave Pokémon of that type in the box. All of Tulip’s Pokemon have high Special Attack and use Special Moves apart from their leader, making Pokemon with high Special Defense a good counter. This is Tulip’s outfit and all her moves:

  • Level 44 Farigiraf – Normal/Psychic, weak to Dark and Bug with Crunch, Zen Headbutt and Reflect.
  • Level 44 Gardevoir – Psychic/Fairy, weak to Poison, Ghost and Steel with Psychic, Dazzling Shine and Energy Ball.
  • Level 44 Espathra – Pure psychic, weak to Bug, Ghost and Dark with Psychic, Shadow Ball and Quick Attack.
  • Level 45 Flowers – Pure Fairy with a Psychic Tera-type to make it weak to Bug, Ghost, and Darkness with Psychic, Moonburst, and Petal Blizzard.

The biggest threat on the team is the ace, Florges, because he has a very high Special Defense stat with enough Special Attack to deal a lot of damage. Hitting this Pokemon with a physical move from a Pokemon with a high Attack stat will take it down quickly. Since only Gardevoir and Florges have Fairy-type moves, bringing a Dark-type into the fight is a good strategy since both Farigiraf and Espathra don’t have great movesets to deal with it. Farigiraf can use Reflect to halve the damage from physical moves for 5 turns, so it’s wise to quickly remove them or stop them when bringing in a Pokemon with a high attack stat. A Steel-type Pokemon can barely take damage from the team and is the best type to bring into the fight.
