GOW Ragnarok: Svartalfheim Geyser Puzzle (Solved)

Tyr’s quest will lead Kratos and Atreus to the Dwarven realm, Svartalfheim, where you’ll be introduced to a variety of new puzzles. The first ones you’ll encounter are the geyser puzzles, which force you to use both blades and axes to open doors and progress further through the terrain. In today’s God of War Ragnarok guide, we will discuss the geyser water puzzles and their solutions.

Key takeaways

  • The geyser puzzle in Svartalfheim: One of the first puzzles in Svartalfheim, crucial to entering the main town.
  • Two doors to open: To clear your way across the river, you must open two gates.
  • Solving the first gate:
    1. Increase the water pressure from the geyser near the gate.
    2. Open the geyser with Chaos BladeFreeze the water with the Leviathan X, climb the platform, and freeze the water source to increase the geyser’s production.
    3. This opens the first door.
  • Solving the second gate:
    1. Lock your boat near the other door, pull the chains to remove the obstacles, and drop the iron block with the axe.
    2. Open a closed geyser with a blade, freeze the water to pressurize it, and set the water wheel in motion.
    3. Destroy the iron block support, climb it, freeze the water, and climb to the top floor.
    4. Pull another chain to remove another set of barriers, opening another gate.

Water wheel and geyser puzzle

The first Rivergate puzzle
Arrived at the first geyser puzzle.

The first geyser puzzle is relatively easy and doesn’t require you to time your throws or anything. After reaching the beach with the wooden gate next to the water wheel, you will see a geyser closed with a cap. Open the geyser with a blade, and use the Leviathan Ax to freeze the water that spews out.

Now after freezing the water coming out of the geyser go to the other side and climb the wooden platform. After reaching the top, call back your ax and freeze the water coming from the large jar or vase.

This will increase the pressure of the water in the geyser below, and the water from it will start turning the wheel, so the first wooden door has to be opened.

  • Open the second gate: Dock your boat, drop a hanging block, lower the first layer of wooden door.
  • Cross the Gap: Jump over the gap, freeze the geyser water.
  • Continue down the path: Reach a closed geyser and a large water wheel.
  • Open the geyser: Use your blades to remove the geyser’s cap.

Next, throw your ax at the geyser located between the wooden structures to pressurize the water coming out of the geyser under the water wheel. This will cause the water wheel to spin.

If you call the ax back, the geyser you just froze will reopen, stopping the wheel. The trick here is to drop the big rock right above the geyser onto it. To do this, you need to time your throw to crush the pulley, causing the stone to fall onto the geyser.

The window of opportunity is generous enough to carefully throw the ax at the pulley but be ready to throw as soon as you recall your ax. After that, backtrack through the circular path and climb the block. Now target the geyser you opened earlier with the blade to force the water from the geyser under the block, thus lifting you up.

Climb up the wooden platform and pick up any collectibles nearby, and open the chest for some Hex Silver and Forged iron. Interact with the nearby steel chain and lower the river gate, opening the way out.
