Gotham Knights Embraces Tim Drake’s Bisexuality in Multiple Scenes

YouTuber Ashley Versus posted a compilation of conversations throughout gotham knights between Tim and other members of his bat family. They largely surround the development of her relationship with Bernard, a love interest for Tim who first appeared in the comics. It also includes a touching scene in which Dick Greyson, aka Nightwing, suggests that he and Tim attend Pride that year as their heroic counterparts to show their position to the public.

gotham knights Narrative director Amy Lemay had revealed prior to the game’s debut that it would contain references to Tim’s sexuality as a way to reflect “the real world” without making it a major plot point. “Tim is bi in the comics, therefore Tim is bi in the game,” she said. “It’s not a huge plot point, it’s just a part of who he is and this comes out in the character interactions we have in the Belfry within the scope of how normal conversations would bring it up. Other NPCs and characters in the game also offer forms of representation, in a way that reflects the world we live in”.

While the topic of her sexuality in the game largely centers on conversations about her budding relationship with Bernard, some fans have also discovered an email exchange between Barbara Gordon aka Batgirl and Jason Todd aka Red Hood, discussing Tim and Dick’s plans to attend Pride. in disguise. Much of the content reflects the world we live in, as Lemay put it, addressing Tim’s interest in Bernard without raising an eyebrow or treating it as a coming out, as is often seen in the media.

Tim Drake’s love story with Bernard

This is clear from his first appearance in Batman: Urban Legends #6, written by Meghan Fitzmartin with art by Belén Ortega and Alberto Jimenez Alburquerque. It follows Tim struggling with his superhero duties as he processes a deepening of his feelings for Bernard, who at the time was just a friend. After rescuing him from the kidnappers, Tim realizes in the heat of the moment and seeing Bernard’s life in danger that he is falling for his friend.

Other outlets also accept Tim’s relationship with Bernard. The HBO Max show titans he recently introduced Bernard to the team in his fourth season. Tim has already shown an interest in the STAR Labs researcher, exchanging text messages and flirty exchanges in the few episodes they’ve appeared together so far. Unlike in the comics, Bernard’s last name is not Dowd but Fitzmartin, a reference to the writer Meghan Fitzmartin.
