  • Forspoken developers have received criticism because of the high PC system requirements.
  • The game will consume RTX 3070 with 8GB VRAM and 24GB RAM to achieve 30 FPS at 1440p resolution. It will only run at 60 FPS at 2160p resolution with an RTX 4080 and 32GB RAM.
  • The developers have been called out for not optimizing the PC port correctly, calling it negligence after taking several delays.
  • People have raised concerns, some boycotting the game and others calling it the next Cyberpunk 2077 for this year.

Square Enix has brewed a new IP that is slated for launch in a couple of days, but it has already been under fire due to a miscellany of reasons. Forspoken is an action RPG that features a vast, living, breathing, open world, but at an equally appalling expense. The title will reportedly hog more PC specifications than anyone expected.

The game’s PC system specifications were announced by developers just a few days ago, which came as a stunner to everyone anticipating playing it. Many fans who were excited to play Forspoken were left concerned after reviewing the requirements since it seems to require a lot of resources just to achieve a 60 FPS minimum.

Forspoken developers addressed the backlash regarding its PS5 demo and issued an update to fix and add the much-needed changes, but the team has wholly ignored the recent issue.

The fans have criticized Forspoken’s system requirements, noting that the developers have negligently ported the title over to PC without optimizing it in the slightest.

Honestly, those requirements sound like it is going be a unoptimized mess of a game… so it is likely a Zero effort Port to PC. The majority of PC users doesn’t even have ‘bigger’ RTX,” iterated Licifera on Twitter.

What concerns the fan is the high requirements to play at 1440p and only at 30 FPS. For instance, an RTX 3070 with 8GB of VRAM and a massive 24GB memory will only provide up to 30 FPS experience. Moreover, RTX 4080 with 16GB VRAM and a staggering 32GB RAM is required to run at 60 FPS on the 2160p resolution.

The spec sheet has sparked a lot of disdain, but it could also serve as a bad premonition for the subsequent next-gen titles. Other companies may follow suit in showing neglect in properly optimizing the next-gen entries for PC moving forward.

A 3070 for 1440p 30? How did you delay the game and proceed to post this with a straight face? What a joke of a game,” wrote Yol Toor Shul on Twitter.

The community has called out Forspoken developers for simply porting the game on PC without polishing and optimizing it. The critics believe that Square Enix has not taken advantage of the potential that lies in the modular and upgradeable platform, leaving the gameplay to hog more resources to run smoothly at 60 FPS.

That must be some kind of joke. Who do you think will play this game? Only influencers? I’ve been wanting to give it a try but now, nah bro. Good luck finding a pc community for this game lol,” noted Enes on Twitter.

Despite the barrage of backlash following the PC system requirements reveal, the giant conglomerate has not officially addressed it. The lack of answers and remissness in optimizing the game has left some players to boycott the game entirely, knowing that their PCs will not be able to run the title in the first place.

This is not the only major controversy that has plagued the new IP recently; a streamer was allegedly offered 70% less than her proposed quote to the company for Forspoken content, which led her to believe it was because of her race.

What are your thoughts about Forspoken featuring such a high requirement for its PC port to run at 60 FPS? Do you think the game will end up as another Cyberpunk 2077? Do let us know your opinions in the comments below.
