Fire Emblem Engage is the top-selling video game in Japan in its debut week. The game has finally dethroned Pokemon Scarlet and Violet by a considerable margin to secure the top spot.
PlayStation 5 is the best-selling console in Japan this week, managing to beat all variants of Nintendo Switch, according to the weekly Famitsu sales chart.
Fire Emblem Engage’s first appearance turned out to be a massive success, with a total of 144,558 copies sold for the Nintendo Switch. The game dethroned Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, which claimed the second spot with only 43,983 units.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have dominated the weekly sales chart in Japan since their debut in November. As predicted by us last week, Fire Emblem Engage managed to end its reign to claim the top spot for itself.
One Piece: Odyssey, despite securing the 2nd and 3rd spot last week for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, did not appear in this week’s top 10 best-selling games chart for Japan.
Splatoon 3 jumped up to take third place with a total of 16,091 units. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe claimed the 4th spot on the Japan weekly sales with a total of 13,857 units.
Nintendo Switch Sports secured the 5th spot with 9220 copies, and Minecraft claimed the 6th place with a total of 6009 copies.
PlayStation 5’s Gran Turismo 7 was the only game in the top 10 that did not belong to Nintendo Switch, securing the 9th place with a total of 5,468 units sold.
PlayStation 5 sold 38,602 units of hardware sales, beating every other console in Japan this week. Nintendo Switch OLED managed to sell 28,626 units to claim the 2nd place. Nintendo Switch and Switch Lite secured 3rd and 4th place with 12,820 and 10,141 units, respectively.
Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S both continue to struggle to keep up, with a total of only 205 and 740 units sold this week, respectively. Even the old-gen PlayStation 4 managed to beat Xbox by selling a total of 2544 units.
