The co-creator Glen Schofield has labeled Dead Space Remake with the seal of approval, warmly greeting the reimagining of the original horror classic. The current CEO of Striking Distance Studios also showed gratitude to the developers of the remake for withholding the core of the original installment in the new remake.

Nicole Schofield, the Environment Artist at Striking Distance Studios and the daughter of the co-creator Glen Schofield, made a LinkedIn post where she praised the original Dead Space. Glen Schofield chimed in and mentioned specific figures for making the new remake exceed all expectations.

To all of you who worked on the original, thank you for your contributions to an amazing game. It has withstood the test of time. And to Motive, thank you for your care in remaking the game faithfully. Congratulations,” wrote Glen in the comments of the LinkedIn post.

Nicole Schofield also gazed at the original Dead Space with acclaim, attributing the chef-d’oeuvre by calling it a “triumphant win for sci-fi horror genre.

Nicole thanked the developers for the highly successful remake, hailing it a “bittersweet moment.” She further referred to the original Dead Space release as a “core memory,” wistfully looking back at the game that kickstarted it all.

This is not a unsuccessful game, this was a triumphant win for sci-fi horror genre. Shout out to Motive Studio for their amazing remake. For those on the original, EA Redwood Shores/ Viseral, congrats as well. ‘Make Us Whole,’ wrote Nicole Schofield in the original LinkedIn post.

As per Nicole Schofield’s post, Dead Space was originally stated to be a redundant release by many gamers due to a lack of initial sales. However, that quickly changed as more and more players entered The USG Ishimura to experience the crawling horrors that the game had to offer.

Glen Schofield’s portfolio is worth significant praise, as the co-creator of Dead Space played a large part in reshaping the landscape of the horror genre. Recently, Glen Schofield helmed the development of The Callisto Protocol as Striking Distance Studios’ first game, which amassed a mixed reception.

Glen Schofield has not developed his own reimagining of the Dead Space, but the co-creator did capture some of its elements in The Callisto Protocol. Despite its noticeable flaws, including the performance and optimization issues, The Callisto Protocol proved to be a worthwhile experience executing the Dead Space aspects flawlessly.

The original Dead Space is known to be a spectacle that still holds up today. Last week, the remake’s release was met with critical acclaim by the veteran and newer fans of the franchise, and players are already asking for a new installment in the beloved series. The new remake is already causing a resurgence in the action-horror genre.
