Are TMs one time use in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet?

HMs and TMs have long been a staple of the Pokemon series, dating back to Generation I. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet don’t have HM moves, but they still have TM or Technical Machine moves. they still remain as single use elements (it’s what used to differentiate them from HM). However, you shouldn’t have to worry about saving them for the perfect Pokemon. This is how TMs work in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

TMs can be used from your bag to teach a Pokémon a new move for battle. Each TM has its own unique move and not all Pokémon will be able to learn it. To access your bag’s TM menu from the outside world, press X to open its menu, then move to the right to highlight the Bag option and select it. You can then use the arrow keys or joystick to move right five times to get to the TM section of your bag. It is indicated by a CD-like icon in the top bar of the Stocks menu. You can scroll up and down in this menu to see what TM you currently have. The game will tell you which Pokemon in your active party can learn the move stored in that TM with green and red indicators on the left side of the screen.

Do I need to save my TMs in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet?

No, fortunately you don’t. Any TMs you find in the overworld (you’ll recognize them by the short, yellow light that glows from a Pokéball) or are given can be recrafted thanks to the MT machine. If you’ve been wondering why wild Pokemon drop items like Psyduck Down and Magiccarp Scales, here’s why.
