The following article contains spoilers for the season 1 finale of Andor“Rix Road,” available now on Disney+.
As the cameras begin to roll on the second season of Andorshowrunner Tony Gilroy has revealed which member of the Star Wars The cast of the series is on call first.
Gilroy previously confirmed that Andor Season 2 was scheduled to start production on November 21 (meaning this past Monday). During a new interview with collider, the showrunner further revealed that Kyle Soller, who plays Syril Karn, was the first actor to step in front of the cameras for the new season. “I’ll just say we’re shooting Syril first, Kyle’s working first,” Gilory said. Of course, this doesn’t necessarily mean that Syril is the first character audiences will see in Andor Season 2, as TV and movie productions are usually filmed out of sequence.
Who is Syril Karn of Andor?
At the beginning of Andor In season 1, Syril Karn worked as a sub-inspector for Preox-Morlana (or “Pre-Mor”), a corporate authority affiliated with the Galactic Empire based on the planet Morlana One that governed the Free Trade sector. Despite being told not to do it by a superior officer (Rupert Vansittart), she tirelessly investigated the murder of two Pre-Mor officers on Morlana One and discovered that they had been killed in a fight with Cassian Andor (Diego Luna). . Syril tracked Cassian to the planet Ferrix and led a squad in an attempt to arrest him.
This mission was disastrous, however, as the Pre-Mor drew negative attention, failed to capture Cassian, and ultimately lost numerous men. As such, upon his return to Morlana One, Syril was stripped of his duties. Additionally, the Imperial Security Office annexed Preox-Morlana and took control of the Morlani system (which includes both Ferrix and Morlana One). Syril then returned home to his critical and overbearing mother (Kathryn Hunter) on Coruscant before reluctantly accepting a job with the Imperial Bureau of Standards, all while he remained obsessed with catching Cassian.
In the Andor Season 1 finale, Syril returns to Ferrix hoping to achieve just that, but is once again unsuccessful. However, he manages to rescue ISB officer Dedra Meero (Denise Gough) from the chaos. With that said, it remains to be seen what exactly the future holds for Syril, seeing how Andor Season 2 will begin moving the clock forward one year.
