Highlights of the story

  • Overwatch 2 fans are reporting that the game’s PVE mode has been abandoned by players.
  • A game can take up to 5 minutes to pop up, and squads usually consist of AI teammates.

Overwatch 2’s PVE mode failed to live up to expectations. At the time of its initial announcement, players had After numerous delays, the version of PVE missions that made its way into the game was a far cry from what Blizzard had originally promised. Many features that can add replayability, e.g Skill trees, were terminated. And now, two months later, the players are reporting. Almost no one is playing mission mode..

Taking to Reddit, a fan shared his experience trying to queue up for some games. PVE matches. He said it’s usually just him, one other player, and 2 AI teammates on the team. And even then, it can take about 5 minutes of queuing for a match to pop up. The fact that this is the state of the mood, after only two months, is quite alarming. The user also continued:

People are clearly pissed off that PVE was relegated to 3 missions, no guilds, no skill tree, just 3 missions. And the fact that Blizzard knows this and for the team to put in AI autofill is just insane. I’d rather they drop a battle pass or two and actually work on PvE instead of just accepting it as it is.

The experience is made worse. Overwatch 2’s poor AI. AI-controlled teammates will often move off the map, Along with joining others. at other times, They can use their Ultimates without any enemies., which can cause significant problems when progressing on some higher difficulties. It’s clear that anyone who truly wants to complete these missions on Mythic difficulty will need a preformed group.

I Junkrat’s Skill Tree Overwatch 2 PVE mission before it was scrapped during development.

Players also noted that putting a mod with approx No replay value. Behind the paywall was a bad idea. After the initial hype wore off, most people had no reason to revisit the same missions. This is because the gameplay doesn’t change at all between repeated playthroughs. As a result, fans visiting them now will have a very poor experience due to high queue times and terrible AI.

That way, anyone who missed them the first time around can still try them out with real players. Either way, it’s clear that the PVE mode for Overwatch 2 isn’t what players hoped it would be.
