Although most fans would like to keep their happy memories of watching certain Disney movies, many are lackluster after seeing them a second time. The characters make questionable choices, the stories aren’t that great, and they don’t have the same magic as the best Disney works. While fans still love these movies, they have a lot of flaws that are highlighted upon rewatching.

10/10 The protagonist of Moana remains the same

moana is the empowering story of a young woman who sets out on a quest to return a stolen artifact to a god. On her journey, Moana gains some allies and meets many enemies. Although her adventure is great, fans will have a hard time pinpointing what lesson Moana learned by the end of the movie.

While she persevered in the middle of the story and decided to help Maui again, Moana was already known for being a hard worker and determined to make her decisions. Therefore, she doesn’t grow as much as she changes her mind. Even when she’s up against Te Ka, Moana is the same self-assured girl that fans first saw. Maui has more of a story arc than Moana in her own movie.

9/10 Elsa and Anna separate in its sequel

frozen II

The main characters of Frozen II

Despite Frozen was a sensational success for Disney and frozen II It was also a great success, the second installment is not as good as the original. Although there are many things I like about frozen IIit is not without flaws.

Weather frozen IIThe music in is beautiful, it doesn’t have the same charisma and heart as the first movie. Also, many fans were disappointed to see the sisters, who had just been reunited in the last movie, parted ways once again. frozen II It felt like fans were watching the first movie again, with Elsa finding herself and Anna finding inner strength and a better understanding of the world around her.

8/10 Pixar’s attempt to create a Disney princess lacks magic

Brave Merida shooting arrow

Pixar’s first attempt to create a Disney Princess with Bravo It was great, but it lacked the magic that many Disney princess movies have. Bravo features one of the most realistic heroes, Merida, as she struggles to stay true to herself, but Elinor’s transformation sidelines her.

Elinor and Merida are great characters who have valid points about lore and a fresh start. However, these messages are put aside once Elinor is turned into a bear. Although the film tries to show Elinor and Merida coming to an understanding, the action scenes with Mor’du and Elinor unable to speak derailed the story. If Elinor had had a voice, and Mor’du hadn’t been in it, the writers could have done more with the story of Merida and Elinor.

7/10 Jack Skellington’s story is darker than fans remember

the nightmare before christmas

Jack Skellington in The Nightmare Before Christmas

the nightmare before christmas is a beloved film that has inspired countless movies, artwork, and merchandise. However, on second viewing, the story is much darker than it initially appears.

Jack Skellington essentially ruins Christmas (and almost Halloween) for everyone due to his selfishness. Children are given horrible gifts, Santa Claus is tortured, and even Jack is shot out of the sky. Even before Christmas, Jack forces all of his neighbors to help him prepare for a second vacation in just two months. Jack is an inconsiderate character who doesn’t care what happens to others and lets his town falter in his absence.

6/10 Princess Aurora barely appears in her own movie

Sleeping Beauty

Aurora and Phillip dancing in Sleeping Beauty

For a film titled Sleeping Beauty, the titular character does not appear very often. While he is supposed to eventually fall asleep, most of the movie takes place before that happens. The audience sees Aurora as a baby, then as a sixteen-year-old girl singing in the woods, and then she doesn’t see him again until she tries to hide and pricks her finger.

The rest of the cast is charming, and Maleficent is one of the most iconic Disney villains of all time. However, Aurora lacked the development necessary for fans to feel the plight of her as she drifted off into eternal sleep. The songs are great and Prince Philip is charming, but Aurora is just a dot in her own movie.

5/10 The boy who never grows up is pretty wicked

Peter Pan

Peter convinces Wendy to go to Neverland in Disney's Peter Pan

At first sight, Peter Pan sounds like a tale full of adventures. However, when seen through adult eyes, older fans realize that Peter does some pretty despicable things.

Peter Pan not only forces Wendy to go with him, but also tries to leave Michael and John behind. He also stops the Lost Boys from leaving and makes Wendy pretend to be his mother. Peter may be a charismatic leader, but he’s also extremely manipulative with everyone he calls his friends.

4/10 These cats aren’t as exciting as they should be.

the aristocrats

Disney The Aristocats Duchess, Marie, Berlioz, Tooloose, Thomas O'Malley

the aristocrats is an old Disney movie about a family of cats who are kidnapped and abandoned in the French countryside. Though their journey is arduous, the story doesn’t have the same sense of adventure that fans remember it having as children.

Duchess, her kittens, and Thomas O’Malley are playful characters, but ultimately shallow. Duchess is a proper housecat who reverts to a proper housecat at the end of the story. Meanwhile, Thomas, who is turned into a house cat, loses all the charm and personality of him, making for a disappointing ending with bland characters.

3/10 Kenai is not responsible for his actions

Bear Brother

Kenai, Dehani and Sitka from Brother Bear.

When Kenai’s sloth attracts a hungry bear, his brother Sitka sacrifices himself to save his brothers. Lost in guilt and grief, Kenai is taken to a spiritual place and transforms himself into a bear.

Bear Brother it is supposed to be the story of a young man who learns what it means to live on the other side of the fence. However, except for Denahi attempting to attack him towards the end of the film, Kenai gets no consequences for his actions. The only person who seems to be against him is Denahi. Although Kenai learns that not all bears are bad, he never learns to be responsible or atone for his actions. Plus, he’s still a bear at the end, which further complicates the message of the story.

2/10 Kevin Flynn created a boring game

Flynn looking confused on Tron

thunder it was one of the first movies to incorporate CGI at the time of its release, and while the feat is impressive, the movie does little to support such an achievement. thunder follows Kevin Flynn, an arcade owner, as he is sucked into the digital world and forced to fight other programs to the death.

While this sounds like an attractive premise, the battles are few and far between. Many scenes have long stretches with raw imagery and no action. To make matters worse, the history of Tron is quite complicated from the start. It might be a visually interesting movie, but the story and action are sorely lacking.

1/10 Lightning McQueen is a terrible protagonist

Lightning McQueen and Mater in the movie Radiator Springs Cars

At first sight, cars it has some great world building and amazing animation. Unfortunately, the movie’s hero, an arrogant race car named Lightning McQueen, is one of the most hateful Disney leading men of all time.

McQueen is a misogynistic race car who is rude to almost everyone he meets. He tries his best to get out of his responsibilities and never apologizes for the damage he causes to the town of Radiator Springs. McQueen only begins to change when he develops feelings for the town’s attorney, Sally. Weather cars seemed like a fun and imaginative movie when it came out, viewers today see Lightning McQueen in a whole new light.
