game of Thrones he brought so many amazing actors to his huge cast. Each actor gave a fantastic performance and allowed fans to truly immerse themselves in the world of Westeros. game of Thrones it expanded the fantasy fanbase and became one of the biggest and most popular television shows in history.
Although Game of Thrones’ successful, the actors’ skills and potential were often wasted, mostly due to character deaths or poor writing. Many characters were killed off before the actors had time to shine. Others were disappointed with the character development and progression.
10/10 Thomas Brodie-Sangster Had More to Give as Jojen Reed
Thomas Brodie-Sangster’s Jojen Reed deserved better, having lived and died in the service of the Three-Eyed Raven and Brand Stark. Brodie-Sangster plays the role of a green seer incredibly well and has a pivotal role in the downfall of the White Walkers.
However, some fans think game of Thrones he did not use Brodie-Sangster to his full potential. The star had been on screens from a very young age and, had she stayed on the show, she might have given the series more as one of the few characters with magical abilities. However, Jojen knew that the journey would kill him.
9/10 Rose Leslie’s Ygritte Had So Much Chemistry With Jon Snow
The chemistry between Rose Leslie (Ygritte) and Kit Harington (Jon Snow) was incredible for fans and very real, considering their actual romance was off game of Thrones. However, Ygritte is killed before Jon’s eyes, ending any future they might have had together.
The death of Rose Leslie’s character is another example of wasted potential, as game of Thrones lost a deep and wonderful bond, which was a nice change of pace for such a brutal world. While her death was necessary for the plot, fans might have known more about Ygritte before Olly’s arrow killed her.
8/10 Tom Hopper’s Dickon Tarly needed more time
Tom Hopper has a supporting role in seasons 6 and 7 of game of Thrones as Dickon Tarly, Samwell’s brother, before refusing to bend the knee to Daenerys and being burned alive. Dickon and his father refuse to commit to Dany and die with her honor, but they essentially ended the future of her home as well.
Dickon is remembered for his death and his connection to Sam. However, there’s clearly a lot more that could have come from the character of him based on Hopper’s other work. His talents may have been wasted on a one-note character that never had time to develop.
7/10 Richard Madden played the beloved Robb Stark
The Red Wedding is one of the worst events of all game of Thrones and one of the saddest scenes, when three Starks and many of their men and allies are annihilated. Richard Madden’s Robb Stark met his death after watching his pregnant wife Talisa die horribly knowing his mother Catelyn was next.
Robb should have been given more of a chance in the war, and the plot could have gone in another direction to allow Madden to remain in game of Thrones. Of course, this major plot point is unlikely to have changed, but fans surely wish Robb stuck around.
6/10 Sean Bean’s Ned Stark Survived Just One Season
Over the years, Sean Bean has earned a reputation for getting murdered in his roles. However, it was a shock to game of Thrones fans when Bean’s Ned Stark died in season one. Ned was, in many ways, the main character of the show.
Ned seemed to be capable of playing the game of thrones when he set aside his honor and conceded to Joffrey. However, he still died, which meant that he couldn’t reveal the secret of Jon’s true parentage. As a beloved character, fans wish he hadn’t died so soon in Game of Thrones.
5/10 Jason Momoa’s Khal Drogo Had More Potential
Khal Drogo also lasted only one season before losing his life. However, Jason Momoa’s character had big dreams and wanted to cross the sea and rule with Daenerys. Drogo also believed that his child would be the ‘Stallion that rides the world’.
Drogo is an incredibly strong man and leader, so an injury that was the beginning of his demise was a terrible twist of fate. Also, Jason Momoa had fantastic on-screen chemistry with Emilia Clarke. More of Khal Drogo’s story could have been shown, which would have delighted fans.
4/10 Natalie Dormer’s Margaery was a top contender
Natalie Dormer’s Margaery had just started to be Cersei’s competition. She had begun to mold Joffrey, causing him to care for the people’s favor, and she had completely won over young Tommen. Margaery was a real contender, just like her grandmother.
However, Margaery was killed in the destruction of the Sept of Baelor, which was orchestrated by Cersei. Then her family and her home were wiped out. It’s a shame considering how much potential Margaery had, especially when fans consider Olenna’s legacy. Natalie Dormer certainly had more talent to show for it.
3/10 Pedro Pascal’s Oberyn Martell Died Too Soon
Pedro Pascual joined game of Thrones in season 4 as Prince Oberyn Martell and died within the same season. Oberyn is killed by the Mountain in a trial by combat. He volunteered to be Tyrion’s champion to get revenge on Clegane for the death of his sister and her children.
Pascal played Oberyn to perfection and left quite an impact on fans, despite his brief time on game of Thrones. However, the producers may have made a mistake by ending their time on the show so quickly. Pascal could have brought even more to the fan-favorite role and further fleshed out the story of him.
2/10 Emilia Clarke’s Daenerys Deserved Better
Season 8’s bad writing was a huge point of contention for game of Thrones fans. Many characters had rushed endings, which is exactly what happened with Emilia Clarke’s Daenerys Targaryen. The character and the actor deserved more, as Daenerys had spent eight seasons working her way to the throne.
It’s terribly sad for viewers to see Daenerys’ descent into villainy and her death at the hands of Jon Snow, but it also feels like a waste. Her character development fades, as does Clarke’s chance to play queen of the Seven Kingdoms at long last.
1/10 Joseph Quinn only had a small role
Many fans know Joseph Quinn as the beloved Eddie Munson from Strange thingsbut also had a small role in season 7 of game of Thrones. Quinn plays Koner, one of the soldiers guarding the gates of Winterfell who rejects Arya.
Quinn has such a short scene that it’s easy to forget she was even in game of Thrones. Yet this is exactly what proves he was lost. As a talented actor, Quinn could have shined with a bigger role and more lines, and his talents could have been properly showcased to the world.
